Just over a month after suffering devastating injuries in a plane propeller accident, Lauren Scruggs is speaking out for the first time.
In a post on her blog titled “so (very) much thanks ” Scruggs, 23, wrote on Monday: “i don’t know how to thank each one of you, properly, for so much love during this difficult incident in my life.”
“my heart is so grateful beyond what i could ever imagine. So thank you dearly for the sweet encouragements, the precious words in letters and messages, the beautiful grace in pretty presents, but mostly i am so SO thankful for you and your loving hearts and sweet spirits.”
On Dec. 3, the fashion blogger and model accidentally walked into a spinning plane propeller.
Doctors removed her left hand and eye and she also suffered shoulder and brain injuries.
Scruggs has been undergoing intensive rehab in a Dallas hospital, and despite excruciating pain, she as been making great progress, her mother reports. On the inside and out.
“Lo has been talking, lately, about JOY,” Cheryl Scruggs wrote on Lauren’s Caring Bridge webpage. “It brings tears to my eyes as she says, ‘This isn’t what I would have chosen, but God knows what He is doing … I am excited to see how I can be used.”
Lauren repeated that sentiment of acceptance on her blog.
“we are all so adored by the amazing and powerful Lord,” she writes, “and nothing is greater than walking in His planned-out lives.”
