KISS cleared out its warehouses and netted nearly $876,000 over the weekend at an eclectic Hollywood auction of 30 years’ worth of the group’s memorabilia. Leather codpieces, anyone? (One went for $1,725.) An anonymous phone bidder paid the top price of $189,500 for a set of four original costumes from the group’s 1996-97 “Alive” reunion world tour. A guitar went for $21,850 and a bucket of stage blood made for band member Gene Simmons sold for $546. KISS’s Simmons and Paul Stanley, who are currently on the road with the band’s farwell tour, supposedly wanted to share the group with its fans, auction officials told Reuters.
