In the weeks since Kim Kardashian West was held at gunpoint and robbed in Paris on Oct. 3, her life has taken a dramatic turn.
As she recovers from the harrowing experience, the reality star has stayed out of the spotlight, avoiding public appearances or social media posts. “She is still figuring out her life,” an insider told PEOPLE. “She still has no plans for any work appearances, but her outlook on life seems more positive. She has calmed down a lot since the robbery.”
Almost a month after the incident, here’s everything we know about what Kardashian West’s life looks like now.
1. She came out for Kendall Jenner’s 21st birthday party.
Jenner celebrated her milestone birthday in Los Angeles on Wednesday night at an intimate dinner surrounded by family and friends. She later headed out to a 1920s-themed late night bash, and her sister and brother-in-law made a low-key appearance.
A guest at the event tells PEOPLE that Kim and Kanye walked in together just before midnight.
“They were very chill all night,” the source said. “Kim got on the mic at one point and said something funny and that was about it. She seemed pretty upbeat.”
At midnight, Kris and Kim sang happy birthday to Kendall — presenting her with a birthday cake decorated with a snap of Kendall as a kid, the insider said.
2. She celebrated a private, intimate birthday.
Her 36th birthday (Oct. 28) arrived just a few weeks after her robbery, and instead of throwing an extravagant, highly visible affair, she decided to keep it low-key.
“Kim had a quiet birthday celebration with Kanye, their kids, her sisters and Kris,” a source told PEOPLE. “It was Kim’s choice to not have a big celebration. She seemed very happy with her decision.”
Though the reality star stayed out of the spotlight, her family and husband took to their social media pages to share sweet messages. Kanye also shared video footage of his wife as a young girl with the message, “Happy Birthday babe.”
3. Her husband is helping her get through it.
“He’s putting the needs of his family first, which of course takes precedence over everything else in his life,” a source close to West told PEOPLE. “He is carefully considering how to address and shore up any issues in both his family’s safety and security, and where appropriate, his businesses.”
West, 39, rushed to his wife’s side the moment he received news of the Paris incident, but then returned to the stage less than a week later. The West insider says that amid his busy schedule, the rapper continues to put his family first.
“[West] thinks a lot about their public face, their fame, and what they can be to people, how they can reach out to their fans and influence people in a positive way. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if each of them … applied different strategies moving forward about how they roll out their public lives.”
Kardashian West even attended one of his concerts three weeks after the robbery, though she didn’t document any of it on social media as she usually does.
4. She’s finally back on social media … sort of.
After nearly a month of social media silence, Kardashian West shared three posts on Facebook Monday night, including a photo of herself sitting in a chair and looking at her phone. She ended up deleting them all.
“Downtime #LumeeCollab,” the she captioned one photo, giving a shout out to her light-up cellphone case. She also posted and deleted a link to her blog, where she copied Kourtney‘s throwback to early Halloweens in the Kardashian household. The third since-removed post was a link to last-minute Halloween costume ideas from Stephanie Sheppard, Kardashian West’s personal assistant.
Since the robbery, the reality star hasn’t posted anything to Snapchat or Instagram.
5. She’s growing a bit bored with her new low-key life.
A source told PEOPLE on Oct. 27 that Kardashian West is looking forward to gradually resuming her normal life.
“She is starting to seem a bit bored,” the source said. “She wants to make plans for more outings and maybe even a trip. Things are slowly getting back to a new normal.”
Though Kardashian West did take a break from filming Keeping Up with the Kardashians after the robbery, she has gradually resumed filming over the last few weeks. Immediately after the robbery, the star scaled back on all public appearances, as did the entire Kardashian-Jenner family. She also rethought her entire security plan.
“[She will have] a much heavier security team,” a source told PEOPLE. “There will be a focus on security personnel who aren’t in traditional clothing. There will be a lot more undercover security.”
6. She’s going to continue to take some “much needed” time off.
Kardashian West’s longtime assistant, Stephanie Sheppard, wrote a handwritten letter explaining Kardashian West’s hiatus that she shared on the star’s app and website in mid-October.
“Hey group, so you may have noticed we haven’t updated the app in a couple weeks,” Sheppard wrote in the letter. “Keeks is taking some much needed time off.”
She added: “But not to worry we’ve called upon Kim’s closest friends, fam and yours truly to save up some exclusives. Stay tuned for new posts and app takeovers!! Thank you so much for your support for my girl. Love you mean it.”
