The Chateau of Versailles doesn’t have its own Darth Vader, and Marie Antoinette never actually strolled inside her palace’s aquarium lounge. But why should that prevent Kim Kardashian and Kanye West from having all that and more for their upcoming May nuptials should they so choose?
The opulent estate, built between 2008 and 2011, is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional French chateau. It boasts 10 super-luxurious guests suites, its own nightclub, indoor squash court, sauna and health spa, indoor/outdoor swimming pool, movie theatre, gourmet kitchen and extensive wines cellars.
And when trying to keep up with the Kardashian clan and their love for all things lavish, this seems to fit the bill perfectly.
The inspired creation of businessman Emad Khashoggi, Chateau Louis XIV sits on an historic site in Louveciennes, 20 minutes outside central Paris, making it a perfect location for wedding guests – like Jay Z and Beyoncé, perhaps? – who might prefer staying in the City of Light.
Despite its modern luxuries, the chateau still has some classic touches. There is a moat after all!
But unlike any other moat in Europe, this one has sunken aquarium walls and couched panoramic seating. This jaw-dropping details inspired Kardashian and her walk-thru companion, Balmain designer Olivier Rouseteing, to snap a selfie.
Similarly, among the chateau’s many centerpieces are grand stairwells and terraced balconies is a three-story high cupola dome with a painted ceiling inspired by the one over at chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte (the site of Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s 2007 wedding reception). Theirs, however, did not have climate control, state-of-the-art lighting and sound, air conditioning or electronic windows to shut out daylight or create romantic evening lighting with a one-touch control.
Oh, and did we mention the cornfield-sized garden maze?
