Kid Rock is in hot water after Nashville police arrested the rapper for allegedly punching a disc jockey at a local adult entertainment club.
The Detroit-born Rock (real name: Robert James Ritchie), 34, was brought before Night Court Commissioner Howard Taradash early Wednesday morning and booked for simple assault, the Associated Press reports. Bond was set at $3,000, and the entertainer remained in custody until the money could be posted.
“Everything is wonderful. It was a beautiful night,” Rock said as he left the Criminal Justice Center.
The incident reportedly occurred around 3 a.m. at Christie’s Cabaret near downtown Nashville, said Nashville police Sgt. James Smith. “Inside the establishment there was a squabble concerning, I guess, the selection of music,” he said. “There are no major injuries but an assault did take place.”
TV footage taken outside the club reportedly shows a DJ identified as Jay Campos with a red mark on his face and broken eyeglasses in his hand.
Kid Rock was among several Nashville entertainers, including Hank Williams Jr., who sang at a Tuesday memorial service at Ryman Auditorium for songwriter and promoter Merle Kilgore. Rock’s number was “I Saw the Light.”
