Former Dancing with the Stars champ Kellie Pickler returned to the dance floor Saturday for a charity event in Nashville.

The country star performed at the Ballet Ball 2014, which raises money for programs that bring dance classes to local children.

“Kellie did an amazing job performing at Ballet Ball, which benefits Nashville Ballet. It was fun to see dancers bring her songs to life, and she even showed off a few of her own dance moves!” a source tells PEOPLE. “She told the dancers they looked like angels and she has a sincere appreciation for what they can do.”

Pickler, 27, sang two songs from her new album, The Woman I Am, as the Nashville Ballet company danced. The gala marked the Ballet Ball’s 25th anniversary.

Later, Pickler Tweeted a thank-you message.

“Blessed to have been a part of the #NashvilleBallet tonight!” she wrote. “Thanks again for allowing me to be a part of your special night!”
