There was a magical time not too long ago when Kathie Lee Gifford was considered an appropriate choice to open the biggest televised event of the year.

That time was a scant 20 years ago, and we are here to remind you that you can never, ever forget about it. Then-Miss America Heather Whitestone signed the anthem alongside her for the duration.

Perhaps more interesting: Super Bowl XXIX’s half-time show was titled “Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye,” and was a tie-in to Disney’s new Indiana Jones Adventure ride that opened at Disneyland in 1995.

The “plot” concerns Jones’s attempts to steal the Vince Lombardi Trophy from a mysterious temple. Tony Bennett and Patti LaBelle also sang.

The more you know.
