Rocker Pete Doherty, the sometimes boyfriend of troubled supermodel Kate Moss, was arrested in West London on suspicion of drug possession, authorities and the rocker’s spokesman said Thursday.
Doherty, 26, was stopped as he was driving erratically early Wednesday, according to Metropolitan Police spokesman Tony Linkin, who said that officers found “substances” in the vehicle. Linkin also confirmed that a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing “Class A” drugs, which include cocaine and heroin.
The driver was taken to a local police station and later released on bail, reports the Associated Press. He is due to report back next month.
Shortly after his arrest, Doherty was quoted by the British tabloid, the Sun, in a sensational interview claiming that Moss had broken off her relationship with him after he left a drug treatment clinic in Arizona – where she’d been treated earlier this autumn – after he stayed there only nine days.
“I don’t want you any more,” Doherty claims Moss informed him. Doherty told the Sun that her exact words were: “You didn’t stick it though rehab. I hate you.”
After publication of photos that allegedly showed Moss using drugs earlier this year, the supermodel lost lucrative contracts with Chanel, H&M and Burberry, among others. Since apologizing publicly and undergoing rehab, she has shot a photo spread for Italian designer Roberto Cavalli that is expected to appear in fashion magazines next year.
Doherty, the former lead singer of The Libertines, is now the frontman for the band Babyshambles.
