It was a rough Halloween for Kanye West.
On the same day that he sued a YouTube co-founder over a leaked video of his marriage proposal to Kim Kardashian, the musician’s Yeezus Tour suffered a heavy blow after a truck carrying crucial equipment crashed and damaged the gear beyond repair.
On Friday, West’s record label said the tour would be postponed until the gear can be fixed, meaning at least three concerts will have to be rescheduled.
“Yesterday, on the road to Vancouver, a truck carrying The Yeezus Tour s custom-made video truss and 60-ft circular LED screen was in an accident that damaged the gear beyond repair,” a rep for Island Def Jam Music Group said in a statement.
“This gear is central to the staging of The Yeezus Tour, and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA. As a result of this event, it is impossible to put on the show and The Yeezus Tour will be postponed until these essential pieces can be reengineered and refabricated.”
The rep added that “will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans.”
Concerts in Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis will be postponed, and an announcement on future concerts is expected soon.
