After nearly six years of marriage — and the past few months of having to deal with rumors of a rocky relationship — British actress-producer Sadie Frost has filed for divorce from her husband, “AI” and “Road to Perdition” star Jude Law, according to published reports.
“I have come very reluctantly to the decision that my marriage to Jude is over,” Frost, who might be best known to American audiences for her role as Lucy in 1992’s “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” said in a statement.
“We have agreed that a divorce is the only way forward but we have equally agreed that we will do everything in our power to make certain that this is as painless a process as possible for the benefit of the children.”
The couple separated in January, when Law, 30, reportedly moved out of their London home. Frost, 35, also has been battling depression, the couple said in a statement earlier in the year.
A statement released on Frost’s behalf last week cited Law’s “unreasonable behavior,” the BBC reports.
The couple, who married in 1997, have three children: son Rafferty, 7; daughter Iris, 3; and son Rudy, 9 months. Frost also has a son (Finley, 13), from her first marriage to Spandau Ballet frontman Gary Kemp.
At the time of the couple’s separation earlier this year, Law denied allegations he was having an affair with his “Cold Mountain” costar Nicole Kidman, calling those claims ” malicious” and “libelous.”
For her part, Kidman recently won a libel suit against London’s Daily Mirror, which had accused her of coming between the couple.
