Premiering Tuesday on Good Morning America, the Sophie Muller-helmed video features Mayer, Perry and other duos riding a mechanical bull before shooting off confetti cannons.
“We set the casting call up for real couples. It’s just so authentic – they were having a great time,” Mayer, 36, says. “There’s nothing scripted in that video except putting a bull in the middle of the desert.”
“Relationships are kind of like riding a bull – you hold on for dear life. Sometimes you get a little buck here and there, but you get back on,” Perry, 29, adds.
She was up for the collaboration – both personally and professionally.
“[John]’s just a fantastic partner,” the singer-songwriter recently told Marie Claire. “I’ve been a fan of his for such a long time. He’s got a brilliant, brilliant mind. It’s a rad, mature relationship.”
Mayer wraps the winter leg of his tour Tuesday evening in Brooklyn.
