The husband of former Real Housewives of New York City star was first diagnosed with thyroid cancer in June 2009. Now he’s been diagnosed with a brain tumor, but Jill affirms that her husband a strong team behind him.
“Together they will perform gamma knife radiation to eradicate the brain tumors caused by the thyroid cancer spreading north of his shoulders,” she says, adding that right now: “I can’t even say the word.”
While Jill admits it’s a “very scary time” in their lives, their family is very grateful for all the support that Bobby has received since his diagnosis.
“We are so grateful to have so many loving friends and family reach out to us during this very scary time in our lives. You have to live to live,” she shares. “There are new drugs being approved, and we all have to survive long enough to get them.”
After his first diagnoses, Bobby had his thyroid removed and underwent a radioactive iodine treatment. His cancer wound up returning in 2015 after the cancer spread to his lungs — a diagnosis he found out during a routine checkup at the Princeton Longevity Center.
At the time, Jill told PEOPLE: “If it wasn’t for that routine checkup, it could have been too late by the time we would have found it.”
On Monday night, the pair attended the 2016 Angel Ball in New York city, and Jill shared a photo of the two on Instagram with the caption: “What a wonderful night at #theangelball2016 #cancersucks #cancerawareness thank you @deniserich for all you do!!!thank you @blackhalostyle.”
