Jen Agrees with Gwyneth on Brad Pitt

Posted on

As its first-ever Woman of the Year, Jennifer Aniston appears topless – her back to the camera – on the cover of GQ’s new issue, but the revelations don’t end there.

Although she’s pretty much stuck for an answer when the magazine’s interviewer asks, “What’s the best thing about not being married?” – the best she can do is point to her Malibu beach house and exclaim, “Well, this is all mine,” and then add with a laugh, “I guess you could say that I get to date again, which is … dreadful” – the former Friends star, 36, is more forthcoming on the price paid by couples who publicly declare their love, as she and her ex, Brad Pitt, did before their marriage collapsed.

In response to comments by Gwyneth Paltrow (another ex of Pitt’s, though the two never married) that Brad and Jen fell into a trap by publicizing their relationship, Aniston says: “She’s absolutely correct. I feel like there is a graveyard of celebrity couples who now have learned their lesson. You know, at the time you go, ‘Celebrate it-we’re in love, and let’s talk, and who cares?’ ”

In her own situation, she says, “It just got a little out of control, that’s all. So you learn those lessons. It’s just about learning what to keep sacred.”

Another lesson: “I’m not defined by this relationship,” Aniston says. “I wasn’t when I was in it, and I don’t want to be in the aftermath of it. And that’s really important to me. Let’s let everybody move on and live their lives, and hopefully everybody will be really happy.”

As for the relationship of Pitt and Angelina Jolie, which has not gone unnoticed by anyone: Aniston says she is not resentful, “because I know what it is” – fodder for the press – though she does add, “there’s a little bit of the ‘C’mon, enough already. Just stop it.’ ”

Finally, in the article Vince Vaughn is mentioned merely as Aniston’s costar in the upcoming movie The Break Up. Of that, she says that she expects that the romantic comedy will be terrific. “But who knows?” she also says. “It could suck. I don’t think it will, but if it does, I don’t care. I had a blast.”
