Josh Taylor, a reporter for Sarasota ABC affiliate WWSB, got more than he bargained for when investigating a possible rental property scam in Florida Saturday: He got carjacked.

Taylor was covering a dispute in which a Venice, Fla., woman claimed a rental property had been advertised as an 11-bedroom home, but had only five bedrooms due to some building code violations.

Taylor made it to the home in question and began setting up his camera, but was accosted by a woman later identified as Jean Price. The home’s owner, local chiropractor Dr. Craig Siegal, said Price used to work for him, but now simply watches out for the home.

“Watching” may be too weak a word for what Price did: While Taylor filmed her, Price accosted him verbally, then simply got into his car and drove away.

The State Attorney’s office will decide whether to charge Price with grand theft auto.
