Watch Jay Z Visit His Old Brooklyn Apartment in Made in America

Posted on

Made in America is a forthcoming concert documentary directed by Ron Howard – his first documentary – and focuses on Jay Z‘s yearly festival, organized in conjunction with Budweiser, now in its third year. (The movie focuses on the 2013 edition.)

As is evident in the trailer, the work – in theaters now – features interviews with Jay, Janelle Monae, Rita Ora, Darryl McDaniels and Joseph Simmons of Run-D.M.C., who reunited for the festival. Pearl Jam, Kanye West, Passion Pit and Jill Scott are also featured.

In this exclusive clip, Jay Z reminisces about the first time he moved into an apartment outside of the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn, where he initially grew up, and how he’s now able to see that apartment building from the lounge at the Barclays Center.

If there’s a better visual example of rags to riches, we’d like to see it.
