That didn’t take long.

Jared Leto‘s shiny new Oscar is no longer as flawless as his gorgeous locks – it already has a ding.

“True story: I was letting some of the people that I work with take a picture with the Oscar. I was carrying it down the stairs and, boom, I hit it against the railing and put a little nick in the back of it,” Leto tells Entertainment Tonight Canada. “It’s already lived in, as they say.”

You might think the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman, who just announced his band will tour with Linkin Park, would put Hollywood’s highest honor somewhere safe. But you’d be wrong.

“The Oscar is sitting in my kitchen guarded by some vegan butter and a bag of popcorn,” Leto, 42, says in the interview.

But the kitchen is a favorite spot for the actor, who recently showed off his vegan pancake-flipping skills.

“That is the first place I go when I go home, you put your keys down, you take off your jacket and you put your Oscar in your kitchen.”
