The bromance is real!

Jake Gyllenhaal stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday, where the actor dished on his newfound friendship with Life costar Ryan Reynolds.

“I’ve known him in passing a little bit but I didn’t really know him until we were working,” Gyllenhaal said of Reynolds. “He’s just a great dude. He’s a great human being.”

And while the friendship might seem too good to be true, Gyllenhaal promises that it’s real — and he’s even willing to prove it!

“I can get him on the phone,” said Gyllenhaal. “I’m hoping my mom does the best Ryan Reynolds impression right now.”

But when the actor, 36, took out his phone to call, the phone just kept ringing.

“Please answer,” he said. “Come one man. You’re eating up precious TV time!”

Gyllenhaal even tried to call a second time but still had no success — until the commercial break. As Meyers was backstage getting his mic fixed, the actor ran back on stage to announce that his pal was on the phone.

“He’s calling!” he said as he showed the audience Reynolds on the other line via FaceTime.

“Here’s what I’m doing,” Reynolds said. “Pushing baby strollers.”

The pair have been keeping fans entertained with their hilarious antics as they promote their new outer-space thriller Life — and PEOPLE’s interview in this week’s issue was no different. The two couldn’t stop laughing as they discussed being up for the same roles and what they love most about each other.

Can these two just hang out forever, please?
