With a second bout of skin cancer under his belt, Hugh Jackman isn’t messing around.
At Saturday’s global premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past in New York City, the star, 45, had a bandage on the side of his nose – and a message for fans.
Asked how his face was doing, he chuckled and said, “My face? It’s fine, it’s good. Thank you for asking. I have a few stitches, I had a basal cell carcinoma taken out.”
Then he delivered a warning: “Tell all your readers: get checkups, wear sunscreen. It’s all about prevention.”
Added Jackman, who also sported a thick beard, “I figure for some people reading it, if Wolverine says it, it might be different than if your parent or wife or husband says it.”
Jackman confirmed the cancer “is out, it’s fixed, and I’ll get myself checked up. It’s all about catching these things early.”
The star also joked about his fitness routine for the latest X-Men flick, saying, “I look better in this than ever before.”
He added that after so many cycles of bulking up to play Wolverine, “I probably could be a personal trainer,” he admits, “but I’m still lazy at heart.”
“I’m an actor,” he adds. “I whine about it and complain about it. So I need a trainer to push me.”
X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters May 23.
