It was quite the roller coaster week for celebrity news, ranging from the shocking (we’re looking at you, Solange Knowles and Jay Z) to the absurd (how was that bike ride, Alec Baldwin?).
Along the way, we also got a glimpse of an A-list couple’s adorable baby, along with some more disturbing news that made readers angry and sad.
Below, check out the five stories that got the strongest reactions on PEOPLE.com this week. And let us know what you think of every story by clicking on the icons at the bottom.
All together now: Awwwww! John Krasinski shared the first photo of his and Emily Blunt‘s 3-month-old daughter Hazel this week, posting an adorable snapshot to Twitter. “Pics of kids should only come direct from parents. So I’m thrilled to introduce you guys to Hazel!!!!” the actor wrote.
The most wow-worthy story of the week, obviously, was the elevator dustup between Solange Knowles and Jay Z. The exact cause of the May 5 incident, seen in footage caught by an elevator’s security camera and then leaked, remains unclear. Solange, Jay Z and his wife Beyoncé said this week that they’re moving on. “We love each other and above all we are family,” they said.
Provoking the most anger of any story this week was the news that Lamar Sally and Sherri Shepherd are splitting after three years of marriage – and that Sally is seeking full legal and physical custody of their unborn child. The View co-host is expecting a boy on July 28 via surrogate. Sally is also requesting that she have only “reasonable” visitation rights and has asked for an order preventing her from interfering with the baby.
The saddest news of the week was that James “Jay” Ott, a fashion designer who had worked with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, was found dead in New York Harbor. He had been last seen at his home in Brooklyn on March 24 and suffered from anxiety, according to reports. Ott collaborated with the Olsens on their high-end line The Row.
It was no laughing matter for Alec Baldwin, but readers found some hilarity in the news that he was arrested and put in handcuffs this week for riding his bike the wrong way on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The actor could scarcely believe it, and later railed against the police calling NYC a “mismanaged carnival of stupidity” – for cracking down on innocuous behavior while doing nothing about paparazzi harassment.
