Six months after the birth of her first child, celebrity chef Giada de Laurentiis is trying to strike a balance “between not giving up everything that I used to do, and not missing out on anything that my daughter does,” she says.
“When you have children, everything changes. A lot of women know, you learn as you go through it,” de Laurentiis, 38, said Saturday during a cooking demonstration at the New York City Wine and Food Festival.
“The food is inspired by my lifestyle – some of the recipes are even shorter than before.”
Besides tending to baby Jade, the Food Network and Today show star is busy launching a new show – Giada at Home, debuting Oct. 18 – and a new book, Giada’s Kitchen.
As for whipping up baby food, de Laurentiis said Jade only began eating solids a week ago.
“So, it’ll be a couple years before I understand what she likes and doesn’t like,” says the mom. “And she’s got to get some teeth, too. She’s missing teeth and hair. I’m hoping for both of those in the near future.”
