Kelsey Grammer was hospitalized Monday as a precautionary measure after feeling faint following his recent heart attack.
The actor’s publicist Stan Rosenfield confirmed to PEOPLE: “He felt faint yesterday morning so he decided to go to the hospital and get checked out.”
Grammer, 53, who suffered a mild heart attack in June after paddle surfing with his wife in Hawaii, began feeling ill while promoting his new film Swing Vote in New York.
His recent hospital visit was in no way life-threatening, says his rep. “When you have a history of heart [troubles] you take these things a little more seriously,” says Rosenfield. “They ran some tests yesterday and might make an adjustment to his medication.” He added that the doctors had kept him overnight for observation and as a result of the scare, Grammer had to cancel four TV appearances.
The actor’s wife Camille admitted to PEOPLE just prior to his second hospital visit that she constantly worries about her husband’s health. “He’s a Type-A personality, so it’s hard for him to slow down,” she said at the Super Saturday 11 charity shopping event in the Hamptons, which she attended with her husband and kids Mason and Jude on Saturday.
But she’s not giving up her efforts: “We’re working on it. I’m still scared. I always did appreciate him, but I really appreciate him now.”
And how is Grammer feeling now? Jokes Rosenfield, “He’s a little upset that the Yankees lost.”
