A fan was fatally stabbed this weekend at a Southern California concert featuring rap star Nelly, while another remains hospitalized, police tell the Associated Press.
Faitamai Taunuu, 30, died Saturday from the multiple stab wounds he received during the concert just north of San Diego Friday night, said Lt. Richard Coleson. The other stabbing victim was Sean Bowers, 27, who was listed in good condition as of Sunday.
Coleson tells AP that police have charged Hank Carl Banegas, 26, and his uncle, Steven Francis TeSam, 42 (and described as a Native American tribe official), with investigation of murder and attempted murder. Both are being held without bail.
An unidentified boy, 16, was charged with conspiracy and was detained in a juvenile facility, the spokesman added.
The incident marks the second recent musical event that ended in violence. At an August “Beat Summer Jam 2002” concert in Irvine, halfway between San Diego and L.A., about 15,000 people fled the scene after a fight broke out that ended up on the main stage.
At the time, only one person was hospitalized, and there were no arrests.
