Emma Watson hasn’t been dating Matt Janney for very long, but she’s already cast a spell over his family, who are excited about the new relationship.

Coralie Day, who calls herself a “second mother” to the Oxford University student, told the Evening Standard, “We are thrilled to bits that he is seeing Emma Watson. We are looking forward to meeting her soon. Hats off to her for finding such a wonderful young man. There is nothing bad anyone could say about Matt. He is absolutely lovely.”

Day, 57, and her husband, James, became Janney’s unofficial guardians after his mother, Jill, died in 2008 when he was 16. Tragically, his father also passed away when he was a toddler.

Day also took in Janney’s sister, Jemima. The 23-year-old fashion designer currently lives in New York and is dating musician Ben Lovett from Mumford & Sons. The couple are reportedly close friends with Carey Mulligan (who’s married to lead singer Marcus Mumford) and Keira Knightley.

Yet these celebrity links didn’t stop Janney, 21, from being slightly nervous when he broke the news of his new relationship to Day in her London home two weeks ago.

Day, who runs a property company, describes the rugby player as being “excited” when he told them about Watson, 23, whom he met through friends.

Since then the couple have been spotted on a PDA-filled break in the Caribbean, and Janney, who speaks French and Russian, took her to a rugby match where he showed off his athletic skills.

The Harry Potter star previously dated Will Adamowicz, whom she met while studying at Oxford in 2011.
