Ellen DeGeneres, 42, and former “Seinfeld” writer Carol Liefer will be joining forces on DeGeneres’s new CBS comedy series, reports the Associated Press. Liefer has signed on as executive producer of the new show, which could hit the airwaves next spring. The sitcom is said to be about a woman (DeGeneres) from a big city who relocates to a small town. CBS committed to the new DeGeneres show in 1999 and ordered six episodes. ABC canceled DeGeneres’s “Ellen” sitcom in 1998, blaming poor ratings in the year after the star’s character came out a lesbian. The lead character’s sexual orientation on the new show has not been discussed.
