It’s a he. “Elizabeth Hurley is delighted to announce the birth of her son, Damian Charles,” the actress-model’s spokeswoman said in a statement, reported by the Associated Press from London shortly after the bundle of joy arrived on Thursday. “Both mother and baby are happy and healthy,” she said. Hurley, 36, who ended her 13-year relationship with actor Hugh Grant more than a year ago, has been saying the father of her baby is American film producer and real-estate heir Stephen Bing, 35, who denies paternity. Approached by reporters outside his Los Angeles home on Thursday, Bing had no comment. Already there has been a fierce war of words over the child. Bing said through his publicist in early December: “Ms. Hurley and I were not in an exclusive relationship when she became pregnant. It is her choice to be a single mother . . . If indeed I am the father, I will be an extremely involved and responsible parent.” In a statement responding to Bing’s pronouncement, Hurley said that in her 18 months with Bing, “I was completely loyal and faithful to Stephen throughout this time as, indeed, he assured me he was to me.” Meanwhile, in an unpleasant development, less than an hour after Damian’s birth, Scotland Yard told Reuters, police arrested Petar Mihajlovic, 32, charging him with “carrying out a course of conduct which he knew or believed amounted to harassment of Elizabeth Hurley.” Mihajlovic is due in West London Magistrates Court Friday.
