Nothing, but nothing seems to be able keep Drew Peterson from marching down the aisle.
Though the former Illinois police sergeant’s fourth wife, Stacy, disappeared in October 2007, and his third wife, Kathleen Savio, was found dead in a dry bathtub, his publicist announced that Peterson is engaged to be married for a fifth time. (Peterson, 54, has not been charged in either case.)
Like Stacy – from whom Peterson is not officially divorced or even widowed – his fiancé is only 23. The groom-to-be declined to reveal a name or identity of his prospective bride, to protect her privacy, he said.
But, reports the Chicago Tribune, not everyone is throwing rice.
Labeling Peterson’s announcement a “publicity stunt,” Stacy’s family said through spokesperson Pam Bosco, “We know nothing about this woman, we don’t know if she exists.”
Bosco added, “If it was from something very private and special, it would have been kept that way.”
Peterson, who strangely seems to sit comfortably under the media spotlight, is saying that reporters will be kept out of his wedding, reportedly saying with a scoff, “So they can ruin that too? Oh, boy. This is nothing that I want.”
Still, he may reconsider that position, saying with a laugh, “I could probably get free photographers and two dozen videographers.”
