Donald Trump Supports Ex-Wife Marla Maples on Dancing with the Stars: 'I'm Very Happy for Her'

Posted on

Donald Trump is wishing his second wife Marla Maples well as she competes on Season 22 of Dancing with the Stars.

“I think it is wonderful. I am very happy for her and think she will do very well,” Trump, 69, says in a statement to PEOPLE.

Before he was a 2016 presidential candidate, the real estate mogul and Maples, 52, were married for six years. They split in 1999 and are parents to 22-year-old daughter Tiffany.

Maples is gearing up to make her ballroom debut with pro partner Tony Dovolani when DWTS premieres on March 21.

“It’s time to dance is all I can say,” the actress shared during the cast reveal on Good Morning America Tuesday.

On whether the dancing competition will serve as a nice distraction from her ex-husband’s presidential campaign, Maples said: “When life gets challenging, you just have to dance right? It’s amazing.”
