No hard feelings here.
During his town hall with Anderson Cooper, on Thursday Donald Trump referred to Pope Francis as a “wonderful guy,” following an earlier spat centered around the Republican frontrunner’s faith, CNN reports.
“I don’t think this is a fight,” Trump clarified to Cooper. “I think he said something much softer than was originally reported by the media.”
Late Wednesday, the pontiff publicly criticized the candidate when he suggested that Trump’s plan to deport undocumented immigrants and build a wall between the U.S and Mexico was an indicator that he “is not Christian.”
At the time, Trump responded, calling the Pope’s comments “disgraceful,” adding “if and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which everyone knows is ISIS’s ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been president.”
However, the billionaire businessman seems to have had a swift change of heart, as he told Cooper that he’d be willing to meet with Pope Francis “anytime he wants.”
