David Beckham isn’t just the king of the celebrity jungle.
The underwear superstar and retired soccer player will soon prove a master of the Amazon area of Brazil, all for a new documentary that traces his motorbike journey through the tropical rainforest with friends Derek White and Dave Gardner.
The BBC1 film David Beckham into the Unknown will air in the U.K. next month around the time of the upcoming soccer World Cup – a sport more easily associated with the star.
In the film, the dad of four flies 5,000 miles from London to South America, where he makes a brief stop in Rio de Janeiro before moving on to Manaus, in the heart of the rainforest.
Local guides help the trio as they cross the river Negro and travel deeper into the terrain to meet the remote Yanomami tribe.
BBC controller Charlotte Moore, speaking to the Radio Times, calls the special “a TV first for the global icon.”
