Britain’s most famous couple have set the stage for their U.S. debut next month.
Soccer star David Beckham will officially be introduced as a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 13 at the team’s stadium in Carson, Calif., the team announced Friday.
Three days later, his wife, Victoria, will star in the NBC special Victoria Beckham: Coming to America, about moving to Los Angeles with her husband and sons Brooklyn, 7, Romeo, 4, and Cruz, 2.
David, who recently helped his Real Madrid team win the Spanish League title, plans to arrive in Southern California a few days before his news conference and first training session with his new teammates. He’s expected to make his debut on the field during an exhibition game against England’s Chelsea on July 21 at the Home Depot Center in Carson.
David, 32, is perhaps the best known soccer player to Americans, and in January signed a five-year, multimillion dollar contract with the Galaxy, which currently has the second-worst record in Major League Soccer.
He isn’t the only one making a big career move. Victoria and her fellow Spice Girls on Thursday announced plans to reunite for an 11-show world tour in December.
