Good things came in two’s for Patrick Dempsey in 2007: two big successes on TV and in the movies, and two little twin boys, Darby and Sullivan.
“I’m just enjoying life more than I ever have,” the 41-year-old actor tells PEOPLE in its new cover story, which names him the magazine’s Star of the Year. “I’ve worked hard to get to this point in my relationship and in my career.”
Dempsey is still prime time’s hottest doc, nabbing a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Male TV Star for his role one Grey’s Anatomy, which is still on top after four seasons. And Prince Charming also brought fantasy to life in the movie Enchanted.
Just as magical this year was the actor’s home life, as he and wife Jillian welcomed the twin boys in February.
Add to all this a new deal that makes him the new face of Versace, and it’s been a charmed 12 months for Dempsey – a run of good luck that’s not lost on an actor who took some time to break into the mainstream.
“I understand how fortunate we are to have had the phenomenon that’s happening with Grey’s Anatomy,” he says. “I’m trying to enjoy the moment while it’s here and to be able to provide for my family so that I can step away and enjoy raising them away from all this.”
