Music legend Ike Turner died of a cocaine overdose, the San Diego medical examiner s office confirmed Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The R&B music pioneer and ex-husband of Tina Turner was 76 when he died Dec. 12 at his home in San Marcos, Calif. The coroner s report lists the cause of Turner s death as cocaine toxicity.
Turner, whose volatile relationship with his wife was chronicled in her autobiography and the movie What s Love Got to Do With It? had struggled with drug addiction since the mid-1970s.
Married four times and the father of four children, Turner was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
