Gladiator actress Connie Nielsen and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich have welcomed their first child together, a son.
“His name is Bryce Thadeus Ulrich-Nielsen,” Nielsen’s manager tells PEOPLE. “He was born on May 21.”
Nielsen, 42, told the Danish newspaper BT, “We are ecstatic. Everything is fine with him. He is eating, and he’s just so fine.”
And according to a post on Metallica.com, “Mother’s doing well, Dad’s in awe, and brothers Layne, Myles, and Sebastian are psyched!”
The actress and Ulrich, also 42 and a fellow Denmark native, revealed in December that they were expecting. “They are ecstatic,” Nielsen’s rep told PEOPLE at the time.
Last year, Nielsen appeared as Detective Dani Beck on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Next up, she’ll star opposite Ethan Hawke in the drama Tonight at Noon and will appear with Charlize Theron in Battle in Seattle, directed by Theron’s boyfriend Stuart Townsend.
She and Ulrich have been dating for about two years. Nielsen has a 16-year-old son, Sebastian, from a previous marriage; Ulrich is the father of sons Myles, 8, and Layne, 5, also from a previous marriage.
