Rumors have circulated for a few weeks now that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are planning to wed at George Clooney’s villa in Italy – only Clooney says he has no clue about such a thing.
“People have said they were going to get married at my house,” Clooney tells the Associated Press. “Well, I would know, and I can tell you there’s not going to be a secret wedding.”
Clooney declined to confirm whether Pitt and Jolie were even dating. “I’ve met Angelina – I like her very much – but I would never talk about whether they are together or not,” the 44-year-old actor said. “I don’t speak of my own personal life – I would never speak of my friends.”
Clooney’s new film, Good Night, and Good Luck, about the late, legendary CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow (played by David Strathairn) opens the New York Film Festival Friday night. Clooney directed and plays esteemed producer Fred Friendly in the drama. The title comes from Murrow’s signature on-air sign-off.
Meanwhile, says AP, several shoppers at the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta, reported seeing Pitt and Jolie with her two children, Maddox and Zahara, on Wednesday. Pitt has been in Canada working on his new movie, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
Kayla Penny, a clothing store employee, told a local Edmonton TV station that she and her co-workers rushed to snap pictures of the couple on their cell phones. She added that most star-struck gawkers behaved themselves.
“There were a couple of people who ran and shook (Pitt’s) hand,” says Penny, “but he just shook their hand back and didn’t really think anything of it
