Hillary Clinton may have “Living History,” but her husband is about to make eating history.
That’s right, President Bill Clinton is about to publish a cookbook.
“The Clinton Presidential Center Cookbook: A Collection of Recipes for Family and Friends” will sell for $35 when it hits store shelves next month and will consist of some 250 recipes — many from the celebrity pals of the former chief executive, the Associated Press reports. Money from the sales of the book will go to Clinton’s library foundation.
Among those donating recipes: Muhammad Ali, Bono, Christie Brinkley, Chevy Chase, Whoopi Goldberg, Don Henley, Quincy Jones, Sophia Loren, Mary Steenburgen, Barbra Streisand and Elizabeth Taylor.
Taylor, of course, is not known for having ever stood over a hot stove, but she always was a devoted fan of the chili at the now-shuttered Chasen’s restaurant in Beverly Hills. (No word on what recipe she contributed, however.)
The former president, meanwhile, will contribute his recipe for chicken enchiladas; Hillary Rodham Clinton offers up a recipe for chocolate chip cookies; barbecue recipes will come from McClard’s in Hot Springs, where Clinton grew up; and a Kirk Hanlin “Air Force One” recipe for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches is included, as well.
Hanlin, a former Clinton assistant, reportedly liked to make PB&J sandwiches while traveling on Air Force One, and Clinton took a liking to them.
The cookbook will be available by mail order and through the Clinton library foundation’s Web site, said foundation president Skip Rutherford, who — playing both food and book critic — adds: “The recipes are good, but the stories are also good. (The book) includes all ranges of Clinton’s life.”
