Get ready to see Mr. Big on the big screen.
Chris Noth, who played Carrie Bradshaw’s off-and-on love interest in Sex and The City, has signed on to do the movie version of the hit show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
But before filming begins, the actor, 52, told PEOPLE on the red carpet at Hampton Social @ Ross in East Hampton that he needs to get in shape. “I’ve got to go to the gym to do that part again,” he said.
He’d better hurry. Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Bradshaw, recently said that, although nothing is official, “It would shoot very soon, and it would be a summer movie, like the show was summer fare. We’re in some kind of prep, but it’s not determined yet.”
While Noth says he hasn’t kept in touch with Parker or costars Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, who rounded out Bradshaw’s entourage of fabulous friends, the actor said he’d be excited to reunite and be a part of the show.
“It’s great writing,” he said. In July, Parker, Cattrall, Davis and Nixon all agreed to appear in the long-awaited feature film.
In 2004, millions of viewers tuned in to the show’s final episode to see if Carrie and Big would end up together. He finds her in the lobby of a Paris hotel after she squabbled with her boyfriend, a self-absorbed artist played by Mikhail Baryshnikov, and tells her she’s the one.
Carrie returns to New York to await the arrival of Big – whose name is revealed to be John – to the city, where they’ll presumably live happily ever after.
