Brooke Shields is willing to put her public war of words with Tom Cruise behind her. “If he comes to see me in Chicago,” the star of the London production tells PEOPLE, “I’ll see him in War of the Worlds.”
Shields, who recently turned 40, had lashed out at Cruise after he criticized her on Access Hollywood for using antidepressants to ease her postpartum depression. But Tuesday night at the London launch of Matthew Williamson’s new fragrance at the Harvey Nichols department store, she downplayed their disagreement.
“I agree with him about his feeling on prescribing drugs to kids. We are in accord,” she tells PEOPLE. “I don’t think Ritalin should be prescribed to kids.”
But Shields insists that Cruise took his comments one step too far. “Postpartum depression is a different matter,” she points out. “I think I’m more qualified to talk about that (than he is).”
As for her recent jab at the 16-year age gap between Cruise and Katie Holmes (she offered to leave two tickets for them to Chicago – one adult, one child) Shields says: “My comment about his girlfriend is flattering in Hollywood terms!”
