Bret Michaels has bounced back once again.

Two days after undergoing a successful operation to repair a hole in his heart, the rocker has been released from the hospital.

Michaels headed home, where he’s surrounded by loved ones as he heals, including his new fiancée Kristi Gibson.

“Bret is recuperating at home with his family,” a source tells PEOPLE. “He is looking forward to enjoying time with Kristi and his daughters as well as getting back on the road.”

The hole in his heart was discovered last May, after Michaels, 47, suffered a mini-stroke.

He was released from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, and doctors said Wednesday that his “procedure had excellent results.”

“Because of the successful outcome and Bret’s determination, I believe he will be able to return to normal activity within weeks,” Dr. Mansour Assar, interventional cardiologist at St. Joseph’s, said in a statement.
