Brad Renfro's Sea Adventure

Posted on

Actor Brad Renfro (“Apt Pupil”) reported for work on the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., set of his new movie “Bully” yesterday, a day after he was released from the local jail, where he was held on charges of grand theft for allegedly attempting to steal a $175,000, 45-foot yacht. Local police had arrested Renfro, 18, and a companion, Harold Bond, 24, after the two were accused of trying to pilot the yacht away from its berth at a private marina around 4 a.m. Monday, said law authorities. According to police reports, the boat was still tethered to the pier and bounced back when the duo attempted a getaway, damaging both the stern of the vessel and the dock. (Police are currently investigating whether or not Renfro and Bond had been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the alleged boat heist, says the Associated Press.) This isn’t the first brush with the law for Renfro, who was released from Broward County Jail after posting a $10,000 bond Tuesday. In 1998, he reportedly struck a plea bargain on cocaine and marijuana charges.
