Friends and loved ones of Brad Renfro gathered in North Knoxville, Tenn., on Monday night to remember the Client actor, who died Jan. 15 at age 25.
His family greeted some 600 mourners who showed up for the visitation, Knoxville’s News Sentinel reports.
“Brad had problems just like I have problems, just like you have problems, just like all of us have trials and tribulations that we go through,” said his great uncle, Michael Earl, who officiated the funeral service.
“Was Brad perfect? Well, I can tell you, I’m not. Are you?” said Earl. “But I have had that righteousness extended unto me that comes only by the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And I’m gonna see him again.”
Also surfacing Tuesday were more details about reports that Renfro had a young son. TMZ.com quotes Renfro’s stepmother, Kim Renfro, confirming that he had a child.
The boy, whose named was not disclosed, lives in Japan with his mom and recently spent time with Renfro before he died. “We did expect this because people didn’t know he had a son,” she told TMZ. “But we’re very thankful Brad got to see his son before he died.”
