Searchers looking for a missing Long Island mother found a woman’s body Thursday in the woods of Medford, less than a mile from where her car was located.
Police did not release the name of the woman, pending a positive ID from the medical examiner, but friends and family believe it is Sarah P. Goode, 21, who went missing last weekend.
“I feel horrible for them and her 4-year-old daughter,” family member Joseph Miller told WPIX. “She loved her daughter so much, I know that.”
The partially decomposed body was discovered at about 6 p.m. Thursday in what police called a “thickly wooded” area.
The 5’3″, 100-lb. Medford woman, who worked as a medical technician in Patchogue, was last seen around 1 a.m. last Saturday at a friend’s house in Shirley. Her family reported her missing at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
The missing persons case will now be treated as a homicide investigation.
