Billy Crystal Pens Books for Children

Posted on

Now everyone knows what Billy Crystal was doing while he was sitting out his emcee duties at the Oscars the past two years: writing something for the kiddies.

The actor-comic (“City Slickers,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and popular Academy Awards host has two new children’s bedtime books he’s preparing to put on the market, according to HarperCollins Children’s Books, which will publish the titles.

Crystal’s first book, “I Already Know I Love You,” is due in April and will focus on the relationship between grandchildren and their grandparents. The subject of the second book has yet to be announced.

Crystal, 55, said the idea for the books was inspired by the recent birth of his first grandchild, Ella, reports Reuters.

He joins a growing roster of celebrities who have penned books for kids: Recent authors include Katie Couric, Jamie Lee Curtis and Spike Lee, and Madonna’s first effort, “The English Roses,” is due in stores next month.
