Here comes the bride and groom – and lots of bacon!
Adam Poch – the “Heavy Metal Teddy Bear” from Big Brother 13, who was known for his love of bacon and Tori Spelling – wed longtime girlfriend Fara Herzfeld on Saturday in a traditional Jewish ceremony at the Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank, N.J.
“Wait, traditional Jewish ceremony at a bacon-themed wedding, can you say ‘oxymoron’?” Herzfeld tells PEOPLE. The best man, Poch’s brother Seth, jokes that the couple united in “holy and unkosher matrimony.”
Herzfeld met Poch on the dating website OKCupid.com, and maintained a long-distance relationship with him while he competed in the Big Brother house for most of the summer in 2011.
“When I got home, it was time for us to start sharing our life together,” says Poch, who proposed at the New York food festival Pig Island. “After consuming mass quantities of porky goodness, I got down on my knee and asked her to marry me,” he tells PEOPLE.
After their vows, the couple and guests sipped on the First Date, a signature drink that combined Poch’s favorite drink (Maker’s Mark) with Herzfeld’s pick, Firefly Iced Tea Vodka and lemonade, while Alex Coladonato (Big Brother 9) spun tunes, including the couple’s first dance to Bruno Mars’s “Just the Way You Are.”
There were the requisite pigs in a blanket – a must for the pork-lovers! – and guests dined on bacon-wrapped filet, chicken breast and veal chop. Bowls of bacon crumbles sat on the tables “for anyone who wants extra bacon,” says Herzfeld, who planned a surprise for the groom: a bacon-themed groom’s cake.
“I am so glad I never settled before meeting Fara,” Poch says. “I wanted to find the love of my life – and I did!”
