Here comes the bride!
The Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel is getting married this Sunday in New York City. And it’s hardly a secret. The bride recently tweeted: “I’m getting married in two days and housing a pint of ice cream. No need for flat belly at this wedding.”
Frankel, 39, who is seven months pregnant, is marrying her fiancé of five months, businessman Jason Hoppy. Never one to shy away from publicity, the wedding will be filmed for her upcoming Housewives spin-off, Bethenny’s Getting Married, on Bravo. But don’t expect her feuding costars to appear in pastel dresses. According to a source, only Alex McCord and Ramona Singer will attend.
How They Met
Frankel met Hoppy met at Tenjune nightclub in Manhattan back in November 2008. “We were wasted at three o’clock in the morning,” Frankel recalled in a recent interview. “He was very good looking and so I thought he must be some cheesy loser in a nightclub.” He called her the next day for a dinner date and showed up in a “bad vest,” she said. Eleven months later, they were engaged.
At the time, she said, “It feels great because I’m with the right person and we’re positive and thrilled.”
Frankel always imagined one of two wedding scenarios: either “something very sophisticated in Manhattan” or “very cheesy and very drunk and very luau-ish.” While sophisticated Manhattan seems to have won out, there still may be a luau in her future. Frankel recently tweeted: “Started packing for honeymoon! A few days to go.”
Wedding Before Baby
After finding out she was pregnant last October, Frankel said she wanted to marry before becoming a mom. “Because of my age, it’s not like I was going to meet a boy, and then be engaged for a year and then be married for a year before we started trying [to have kids],” she said at the time. “I’d be 45. [It’s like] the Triple Crown. I got engaged, we got pregnant and we’re gonna get married. It’s a miracle.”
And speaking of miracles, how have the couple managed to keep the sex of their baby, due in June, a secret? “[Jason] won’t let me know because he knows I’ll spill it,” Frankel said. Still, a girl can tweet. She recently posted: “I had a dream it was a girl.”
In fact, the bride has been tweeting constantly in the weeks leading up to the wedding. Topics range from her something blue, a Hanky Panky “bridal thong,” to every pregnant woman’s worst nightmare: “cankle alert,” she tweeted. “My feet r swelling. They’re like a half size bigger. Cucumbers & cantalope and aspar r a must for debloating.”
Let’s hope her bridal shoes have a little stretch!
