Ashley Dupré Lashes Out at Those Who Judge Her

Ashley Dupré is tired of people judging her. The escort, whose $4,300 dalliance with former New York governor Eliot Spitzer cost him his job in March 2008, is speaking out about the scandal – and she says she’s just like any single woman dating in New York.

“I know many women who target guys with money and use them to get these things,” she wrote in a blog entry on the Global Grind Web site. “They toy with them, flirt, go on dates, have sex and then drop hints about that new dress … and the guys deliver it.”

In the blog entry (first reported in the New York Post), Dupré, 24, also blasts women in “dishonest relationships” based on security rather than love.

“Some women … dive into relationships with wealthy guys who they don’t love or even find attractive,” she writes, “but they stay in it because they have a nice home, a car and spending money – they would rather stay in an unfulfilling or loveless relationship than lose that security.”

She asks, “Is what I did any more dishonest? Get real and get over yourself.”

Didn’t Blow the Whistle’

Dupré bristles at people who refer to her as “the “woman who brought down the Governor” – a term that infuriates her. “Excuse me, people,” she writes. “I didn’t call the tabloids, I didn’t blow the whistle and I didn’t save ‘the dress’ [as occurred in the Monica Lewinsky scandal]. I did nothing to shine a light on my indiscretions or to ‘out’ anyone else.”

Dupré also takes aim at book publishers who refused to publish her story for personal or political reasons. “Did this hit too close to home for you because your husband cheated on you with an escort,” she asks. “Or would your wife feel insecure if she heard you were working with me? I will write the book regardless and do it for the right reasons.”

Even though she may be overwhelmed with anger at the haters, Dupré still found time to plug her new song, which she says is the thing she is truly passionate about. “I hope you like it,” she says, punctuating the sentiment with a smiley face.
