Annie Lennox has undergone successful spinal surgery for a back injury she sustained in Mexico while attending this month’s International AIDS conference, her rep said in a statement Monday.

“The surgery [to release an impinged nerve] went as planned, and Annie is now recuperating at home,” said her rep Roger Widynowski. “Annie would like to send her thanks and appreciation to all who have sent their well wishes in the past few days.”

Last week, while resting at home, Lennox wrote on her official blog, “I came back to the U.K. and got wheeled off the plane … A first I must say! Felt a bit like Elizabeth Taylor! Some of my plans and schemes have had to be put on hold, because there’s not much I can do if I can’t walk properly!!!”

Among the plans that had to be rescheduled is the release of her upcoming retrospective album. Originally slated for a Sept. 16 release, the album will now hit the stores in the spring.
