Nominations were announced Tuesday for the MTV Movie Awards – airing June 1 on the cable network – and Jolie is up for best villain, Efron will vie for breakthrough performance, and Juno‘s Page is up for best female performance.
Jolie will face off against Denzel Washington, Javier Bardem, Johnny Depp and others in the best villain category.
Page’s Juno costar Michael Cera will square off against his Superbad costars Jonah Hill and Christopher Mintz-Plasse for breakthrough performance. Their buddy comedy leads the pack of nominated films, earning five nods in total, including best comedic performance for Hill and best movie. Juno follows with four nominations, including best kiss for Cera and Page. (See the complete list of nominees here.)
Other highly nominated films include: Enchanted, Transformers, Knocked Up and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End – each receiving three nominations.
This year, fans will select the winners of the coveted golden popcorn trophies by voting online before May 23. The show, hosted by Mike Myers, will air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.
