Andie MacDowell, actress, cosmetics model and one of PEOPLE’s 50 Most Beautiful People of 2000, is coming to the small screen. Variety reports that CBS has ordered a drama headlining the “Four Weddings and a Funeral” star, 43, who will play a North Carolina veterinarian. Why North Carolina was not explained; after all, MacDowell hails from Gaffney, South Carolina. Still, the announcement of the show comes amid a whole flurry of new pilots being announced by the TV networks. So far, says Variety, the MacDowell show is tentatively titled “Jo.” No explanation of that either, but one could assume that is to be the main character’s name. The past few months have certainly been good to the drawling brunette. Only last November, PEOPLE did a big spread on her wedding to former Gaffney Senior High schoolmate Rhett Hartzog, with whom she had reconnected after 25 years. Decked out in a Vera Wang gown — a strapless white number without a veil — MacDowell and Hertzog, 42, participated in an hour-long ceremony in which the couple exchanged platinum bands (hers with diamonds) and vows. Hartzog, MacDowell and her children (son Justin, 15, and daughters Rainey, 12, and Sarah Margaret, 7) then lit a unity candle together, followed by Hartzog’s brothers, Tommy, 54, Bobby, 52, and Charles, 34, wrapping him in a bear hug. No telling what the interested parties will do come the premiere of the newlywed’s TV show.
