FIRST TASTE OF PIE
Following its release in the summer of 1999, American Pie became a pop culture phenomenon, turning its cast of mostly unknowns – Chris Klein, Tara Reid, Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Natasha Lyonne, and Eddie Kaye Thomas – into stars. The success of the film, which grossed over $100 million, also spawned two sequels (2001's American Pie 2 and 2003's American Wedding) and four spin-offs, eventually paving the way for 2012's American Reunion. The actor had few credits to his name before accepting the role of lovable nerd Jim Levenstein, whose embarrassing striptease and run-in with a pie became American Pie's memorable LOL moments. Since then, Biggs has taken on supporting parts in rom-coms like 2000's Boys and Girls, 2004's Jersey Girl and 2008's My Best Friend's Girl, where he met wife Jenny Mollen, whom he wed the same year.

Hannigan was playing shy sidekick to Sarah Michelle Gellar on Buffy, the Vampire Slayer when she got cast as band geek Michelle Flaherty. Following the series' end in 2003, she wed Buffy costar Alexis Denisof, and two years later, returned to TV as Lily Aldrin on How I Met Your Mother. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Satyana, in 2009, and have another on the way.

Klein became an instant heartthrob after romancing Mena Suvari onscreen as nice-guy jock Chris 'Oz' Ostreicher, an image he mirrored in real life by dating Dawson's Creek sweetheart Katie Holmes. Following their 2005 split, the actor struggled with sobriety, getting arrested twice for DUI, before admitting himself into rehab in 2010. "It got to the point where I was a fragile shadow of the young man that came into this business," Klein, now 19 months sober, recently told PEOPLE. "Today, I'm the luckiest guy alive."

After Pie took off, the actress who played virginal Vicky Lathum went against type in real life with a broken engagement to MTV VJ Carson Daly in 2002 and a much-talked about wardrobe malfunction in 2004. Four years later, Reid checked into rehab and took on the media for mocking her botched plastic surgery. By summer 2011, the actress looked ready to settle down with a quickie wedding, but she later claimed it was never legal.

SEANN WILLIAM SCOTT
The actor capitalized on the popularity of his dimwitted alter ego, Steve Stifler, by making a career out of playing such characters, starting with 2000's Dude, Where's My Car?, opposite Ashton Kutcher, and most recently, with 2008's Role Models. Though Scott suffered a brief setback when he sought treatment in early 2011, he recovered in time to film American Reunion, and announced his engagement to Victoria's Secret model Lindsay Frimodt at the film's L.A. premiere. "I'm just really lucky," he said.

Suvari scored back-to-back hits in 1999 with her turns as Heather in Pie and Angela Hayes in American Beauty, the underage object of Kevin Spacey's affection. She later made her mark as Edie on HBO's Six Feet Under. With success came some personal setbacks: Suvari split from husband Robert Brinkmann in 2005, and remarried music producer Simone Sestito in 2010, only to file for divorce in January.

After her big screen breakthrough as foreign exchange student Nadia, Elizabeth parlayed her sexy looks into more bombshell parts, like prom queen Buffy Gilmore in 2000's Scary Movie and American beauty Harriett in 2003's Love Actually. In 2008, she made a run on Dancing with the Stars, but garnered more attention for her real-life romance with partner Derek Hough than her fox-trot.

EDDIE KAYE THOMAS
Since his seduction of Stifler's mom as sex-obsessed Paul Finch, Thomas has made an art form out of making the most of a supporting role, stealing laughs as sarcastic best friend Rosenberg in the Harold amp Kumar films, and most recently, playing hotshot exec David "Kappo" Kaplan on HBO's How to Make It in America.

A scene-stealing turn as wisecracking Jessica led to a subsequent public breakdown for Lyonne, who had several run-ins with the law over the years, starting with a drunk-driving arrest in 2001. Following a 2005 hospital stay, during which the actress battled hepatitis C and other ailments, and court-appointed rehab in 2006, Lyonne returned to acting on stage for several years before reprising her character in American Reunion. "I was definitely as good as dead," she told EW. "People really rallied around me and pulled me up by my f– bootstraps. There was a warrant for my arrest, which helped too."

THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS
Nicholas made a name for himself as a child actor with roles in 1993's Rookie of the Year and 1995's A Kid in King Arthur's Court before playing hotshot Kevin Meyers. His breakout success as Pie's good guy led the actor down several new paths – as the frontman for the Thomas Nicholas Band (whose latest single is featured on the American Reunion soundtrack) and fatherhood (he and wife Colette welcomed son Nolan in 2011).

THE LAST SLICE
"We realized that no matter how much we may have changed individually, as a group we will always be connected and have a special chemistry that arises immediately when we're together, Biggs told PEOPLE of the cast's onscreen comeback in American Reunion, which hits theaters April 6. Scott adds, "We can't help but be reminded that a lot of us started off our careers together."
