Amanda Peet, who has an 18-month old-daughter, Frances, with screenwriter husband David Benioff, says motherhood is not what she expected.

“One surprise of motherhood for me was how little control I have,” the actress, 36, tells Cookie magazine’s June/July issue, out July 15. “I thought it would be an extended, blissful romance with me at the helm, cuddling this little creature to life. It’s been bittersweet and humbling to let her lead, and to try not to be perfect myself.”

And the native New Yorker, who plays an FBI agent in The X Files: I Want to Believe, out July 25, says she feel additional pressure now to succeed in Hollywood because she s a mom.

I still feel desperately sad when I don’t win a role,” she tells the magazine. “When you’re able to identify your passions, then your child will be able to identify hers. It’s a great template.”
